In recent years, there have been increased efforts to build and sustain businesses within the black community. This month, BhD will focus our attention on African American business owners and their experiences navigating the entrepreneurial world. Today, we interview Delisha J. Grant, a business attorney, public speaker, and host of The December 26er Podcast. In her role as a business attorney, Delisha has advised a plethora of companies, from one-person startups to Fortune 500 corporations. During our conversation, we will discuss her experiences as an African American woman in corporate law and corporate America (25:56) and her work advising and representing businesses (29:12). She also provides insight into how her identity as a young, African American lawyer shaped her relationships with both white and black clients (34:04) and how identity (in general) shapes perceptions of legitimacy in professional spaces (38:55).
